Teen Art Classes at Phoenix Village Art Center
Spring Session: Monday April 4 through Monday May 23

Fit creativity into your busy life with Flex-Class. Sign up for a course – if you need to miss a class, or want to change your course, use remaining Flex-Class slots for other classes at the Phoenix Village Art Center.
Flex-Classes carry over from the spring to the fall session, so you can use them to make art and suit your own schedule over time.

CLASSES JUST FOR TEENS

Art School Academy
This program is designed for high school students looking to bolster their portfolios in anticipation of attaining higher education in the Arts. 

Portfolio Review
Are you applying to an art school that requires a portfolio?   Call the art center to schedule a personal review. We will provide a professional artist to critique your portfolio. Find out what you can do improve the selection and presentation of your work to open doors to your future. 
Free for any teen attending classes at the Phoenix Village Art Center.

Y13. Teen Ceramics with Margurita Hagan
Learn or refine basic hand building technique, glazing and firing through projects chosen to gain experience and understanding of the medium. Use of the wheel will be discussed and demonstrated. Bring your sketchbook and imagination to class to the first class!

8 weeks:  April 9 through May 28

Y23. Foundation Oil Painting with Justin Baldwin
This is a wonderful chance for teens to enter the world of oil painting.  This course will introduce this versatile media through exploration and creation. Students will discover basic color palettes including prismatic, warm, cool, and earth tones.  We will paint in selected palettes each week from rotating still life and model set ups and finish up with a painting of your choice of subject matter.
Wednesday Evening 5:00 to 6:30
8 weeks:  April 6 through May 25   

Y24. Foundation Figure Drawing with Justin Baldwin
Stretch your ability to draw accurately from life. Students learn the academic method for drawing the figure. Draw from the clothed and the nude figure learning how to aggressively see, measure, and incorporate a figure into space.
Wednesday Evenings 7:00 to 8:30
8 weeks: April 6 through May 25

Y25. Mixed Media Painting and Drawing with Justin Baldwin
This course is designed to accommodate the more independent student in their quest for self-expression. Working in a group setting Justin offers feedback and direction through individual and group critique. Students are encouraged to explore non-traditional painting techniques.
Saturday Afternoon 1:00-3:00
8 weeks: April 9 through May 21

With Flex-Classes you attend when you can, and save unused Flex-Classes for another time.
How Flex-Class works
Purchase Flex-Classes in packs good for classes or workshops of your choice.
Should you miss a class you can make it up this fall, winter or spring.

General Flex Class Information

  • Special classes and workshops are marked with prices: all others are part of the Flex-Class program.
  • Teen classes are held in 1.5 hour sessions. Most materials are provided.
  • Class sessions can be purchased in packages of 4,6,8, or 10 class sessions, and can be used for any class.
  • Pre-registration is required for class sessions so that instructors can be prepared for those attending.
  • Weeks that are missed can be made up by either attending a different class in the same session or "saving" it until the next session.
  • If you want to make up a session by attending a class that you are not registered for, please call 610-983-9430 so that the instructor is prepared for you to attend.
  • At each session: pick up and sign your attendance card (filed alphabetically) and give to the instructor.

We know you love art. And that's why we developed special programs this summer just for you! Including Pre-College prep classes to guide students entering art school.

Have fun making art all summer long. There are 10 camp sessions beginning June 13 and running through August 19. It's not too soon to reserve your spot at our Summer Camp's creative table.
