Adesha Art
The Phoenix Village Art Center has joined with Adesha Village to provide programming that promotes mental health through ART. Adult students will meet at the art center and work with staff while creating works of art. The program meets on Monday afternoons from 12:30 to 2:00. Please contact the art center if you, a family member, or clientsare interested in the program.
Open Sketch Night Life Drawing
All levels, adults only. Open Sketch is an opportunity for artists to sketch from a live model. Bring your own supplies. We are now meeting twice a month, the 1st Wednesday we will concentrate on short-timed sketches and the 3rd Wednesdays will be extended poses for more finished drawings. Drop-ins are welcome. Watercolor/Mixed Media with James Flynn
Level: Beginner through advanced. We will learn various techniques and build on basic elements of 2-D design and color theory to enhance our works on paper using watercolors and mixed media. The class will begin with a still life and move on to each student’s personal artistic interests. Students are encouraged to work in their own style, but also to be open to some new ideas. Acrylic Landscape Painting with Marilyn Shafer Bush
Beginner to intermediate level. Learn the basic layout of a landscape painting, and use perspective, color mixing and brush and palette knife techniques to create finished paintings that are worthy to hang. Marilyn has been teaching children for many years and her students parents have been begging for an Adult class. Marilyn can bring out the talent in you!! Supply List Available

Beginning Drawing with Virginia Stewart
Learn though demonstration and practice, the basic skills needed to improve your drawing. We will give attention to the art of observation and the interpretation of a 3 dimensional object on a 2 dimensional surface. Techniques on light, shadow, shapes and depth of field will be explored. We will be doing both still life and life drawing.

Acrylics on Canvas with Laurel Ramsden Wood
This course will explore the aesthetics and techniques unique to the acrylic medium. It
will include discussion and demonstration of the advantages and limitations of acrylics compared to oil painting. Students will create from in house still life or may bring their own subjects/objects to paint. Come and discover how acrylic painting may happily change and or influence your approaches to painting in the areas of style, palette and technique! Supply list available.

Introduction to Oil Painting with Sam Wiseman
Everybody has an Artistic Talent of some level; it is all about uncovering the blanket of fear to reveal it. Sam Wiseman gives you several different compositions and genres of painting; then step by step techniques to accomplish finished paintings. After this course you will have a feel for which style of painting you would like to learn more about. Give it a try!! Supply list available.

Hand Built Ceramics with John Brock
Please join the newest member of our family here at the art center for a creative journey with clay. Make four different projects over the six week course. John has samples and will walk you through the steps to create a Candle Lamp, Carved Ceramic Mug, and an Angel. The final project will be your own design using the hand built techniques learned previously. All pieces will be fired and glazed. Clay can be purchased at the art center. A 25 lb bag costs $50 and includes glaze and firing fees.

Decorated Papers, Handmade Papers & Book Arts with Denise Romano Bright
To Include: Traditional Marbling, Suminagashi, Paste Paper, Handmade Paper, Making of Handmade Books, Cards, and Boxes !! Everything Paper!!! Denise will have some pieces at the art center if you would like to see some samples of the type of work you will do. These are very interesting and creative processes that you will be able to continue easily at home. Denise will provide you with endless possibilities of ways to use your homemade papers.

Join Artist Deb Planer for a Ladies Night Out Jewelry Session. Learn the basic techniques of beading and chose from a wide variety of beads, to create your own finished pieces. All tools and materials supplied, although drinks and finger foods are always welcome!! Mark your calendars for the 2nd Friday of the month. Invite your friends and family to register too-make it a party!
