General Class and Workshop Information:

  • Adult classes are held in 2 hour sessions. 
  • Check each course description to see what supplies you are required to bring.
  • Pre-registration is required for class sessions so that instructors can be prepared for those attending.
  • Full payment is due at the time of registration!
  • All current members receive a discount on class fee.
  • Some adult classes are deemed appropriate for teens and can be found on the Adult classes page.

Life Drawing

 

Try your hand at capturing the human form and its movement, using pencil and charcoal.  Learn new skills and refine those you already have, working with a live model.  This is an excellent opportunity to build your college portfolio!  Due to the nature of the subject matter, adults only, please, or teens 14 and over, with parental permission.  All materials will be provided.

Pastel Painting

 

Would you like to begin an artistic journey through the medium of pastels?  Or maybe hone and refine skills you already possess?  Instructor Linda Crane will show you how to use soft pastels to create beautiful and luminous paintings.  Pastel materials and techniques will be explored as ways of producing paintings by building layers of color and designing interesting compositions.  Landscape images from reference photographs will be the main subject of focus, along with still life from direct observation.  Students will be provided with a required materials list of pastels and paper to bring to class.  Continuing enrollment possible.  Fee will be prorated.  Contact us for details.

Water Color Still Life

 

Our very own Carl Bean will be your guide to water color techniques, with a focus on painting still life arrangements and the interaction between light and situation.  He will start off with basic color theory and show everyone how to do luminescent layering of color to achieve those gorgeous colorations that make water color art so pleasing to the eye.  Not a beginner?   No problem!  This class is perfect for honing your current skills, while picking up a few new techniques along the way.  Students are urged to bring along a tasteful item to include in the class still life.  A required materials list will be provided at time of registration.  Continuing enrollment possible.  Fee will be prorated.  Contact us for Details.

Portfolio Preparation

 

This class is specifically designed for high school age and other serious art students who are interested in creating pieces suitable for a college admission portfolio.  It is also perfect for supplementing pieces in their high school AP Studio Drawing course or for enrichment for talented and motivated students.  Projects will include working from direct observation, with an emphasis on improving drawing skills.  Photographic reference images will also be used as starting points for creative interpretation.  Students should bring representative samples of their work to the first class, to determine the specific areas that will be covered in the next sessions.  Linda Crane will be sharing her years of training and experience to help you gain that competitive edge in the very competitive world of college admissions.

Printing Without a Press-Silkscreen Printing

 

If you’ve always wondered how to print your own tee shirts, tea towels and works on paper, screen printing is for you!  In this DIY style class, instructor Gillian Pokalo will teach you how to make a silkscreen that is yours to keep.  Gillian will walk you through the screen printing process, so that your photographs can be printed again and again on almost any surface.  We will supply inks, tools, paper and the materials to make the silkscreen, which you will take with you.  You should bring some digital images that you would like to print and any tee shirts, towels, etc. that you want to use.

Teen Drawing Class

 

This is the ideal class for teens who want to further their drawing skills through the exploration of basic techniques.  Popular local artist Rhona Candeloro, will help students explore a range of drawing opportunities, using pencils, conte pencils and pastels, to learn the principles of composition, value, perspective and design.  Materials and Supplies are included.
