The Phoenix Village Art Center provides educational programs year round in the Visual Arts. These programs include summer camp, after school and Saturday classes for children, and day, evening and weekend classes for adults. We also offer occasional group tours to local museums and exhibits. Our gallery hosts 12 monthly exhibits yearly, including a Member Show in May, Children’s Exhibit in August and Upstairs Studio Artist's show in November. The gallery offers exhibits in a variety of mediums and styles in solo and group show formats. Gallery openings occur on First Fridays and include an open house of the studios and an opportunity to meet our artists. The artists in our building, the Upstairs Studio Artist's, work in both shared and private studios in our creative community centered building. In 2010 we upgraded our shared ceramic studio and are currently seeking artists for private and shared studios in all media’s. We are involved with several area non-profits, providing art education to under-served populations. We participate in many community events such as the Empty Bowl Project, Schuylkill Canal Day, the Firebird Festival, Blob Fest and Community Day by adding a visual art component.
When funding is available we provide need based scholarship for individuals to attend educational programs. Reduced fees are available to supporting members of the art center and to other non-profit organizations that we collaborate with in order to bring the arts to under-served populations.
"Integrating a gallery, studios and education, Phoenix Village Art Center is a creative haven offering personalized support and instruction to all ages and abilities, with the belief that community life is affected positively through visual arts."
This organization was developed with two goals: to create a Community Art Center and to facilitate revitalization of downtown Phoenixville. After the closing of Phoenix Steel, a Historic District was formed in the late 1980’s. More
