So What Else Do I Need to Know About
Summer Camp 2017 at the
Phoenix Village Art Center?
When does the summer camp run?
We offer ten, one week themed classes, running from June 10th through August 19th, 2017.
What times does Camp run?
We also have a variety of camp times, designed to fit your needs. You can choose the morning session from 9 am till noon or the afternoon session from 1 pm till 4 pm. Or you can have the entire day from 9am till 4 pm.
I am a working parent and need care for my child outside regular Camp time. How is that handled?
Before Care is offered from 8 am till 9 am. After Care is available from 4 pm till 6 pm. If you are choosing AM or PM only options and require your child to be at the Center during the noon till 1 pm time period, we can accommodate that as well. All are an additional $10/hour. Please let us know in advance when you will need these services, so we can staff accordingly. We will accept sign-ups and payments for before, after and lunch care at the beginning of each weekly session.
Summer is vacation time. What do you offer for parents who like to take long weekends?
We also have two enrollment options. The first is the whole week, 5 day schedule. The second in our very popular, 3 day midweek session that runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This was designed specifically as an extended weekend friendly option for those families who are interested in a camp experience but also have plans for weekend vacations.
Is there a registration fee to attend Summer Camp?
The Art Center is a member-supported organization. As part of your registration for summer camp, you will be charged a one-time $20 registration fee per family. This fee entitles you to all standard membership benefits from June through August 2017.
What ages are appropriate for the Summer Camp?
We have a rich variety of weekly themes, that will include programming in fine arts, crafts, theatre, vocals, drawing, painting, crafts and more for our campers ages 5 through 15.
Who will be teaching the classes?
Learn from our team of professional artists and administrators. We choose teachers, who are educators during the school year and hire assistants who are art students themselves. All of the people who will interact with your child have obtained all the required security clearances.
What kind of things will my child learn during Camp?
Campers will be introduced to a variety of art terms and themes and will be encouraged to use those ideas in their everyday life.
My child is in the upper range of the ages you serve and already has some experience with art. Will Camp still work for him?
Older campers will be guided based upon exhibited skills, while focusing on moving their work forward. Teen volunteers are both welcome and encouraged. If you know of a teen who is interested in becoming a Junior Art Camp Counselor, contact us at email@example.com. Spaces are limited and will be awarded based on maturity level of the teen and timeliness of response.
What is the policy for lunch?
We do not provide lunch for our campers who will be attending both morning and afternoon sessions. However, we will provide space and supervision during the lunch hour. Please provide campers with packed lunches that do not require a microwave or refrigerator.
When will I see all the work my artist is creating?
Art shows or performances will be held at the end of each week to showcase your young artist.
Is there anything else I need to do?
We will need a Medical Form completed for each artist. This will give us the information we need to help your child have a happy and safe camp experience. As soon as we receive your registration, we will forward this form to you. We will also be asking your permission to include your child in photographs we may take from time to time to use on our website or Facebook pages. This is not a requirement. We will respect your desire to not have your child included in any photographs.
Please be sure to accompany your child into the Center every morning and also come in at the end of his session to pick him up. We will not allow your child to leave the Center with anyone other than a parent, unless previous arrangements have been made in writing.
Other than that, just drop your artist off at the Center for a day filled with fun and learning
